Where is REDLIGHT STUDIO?
REDLIGHT STUDIO is on Jumen Road in Huangpu District, central Shanghai, and opened in July 2026. To protect artist schedules and unreleased projects, directions, entrance and parking details are sent once a booking is confirmed.
Who founded REDLIGHT STUDIO?
REDLIGHT STUDIO was founded and is led by Red Liu (Liu Siyu), a mixing engineer, recording engineer and music producer who graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. His credits include projects for G.E.M., Tiger Hu, Silence Wang, CoCo Lee and KUN; the full archive is on the Red Liu page.

How many studios does REDLIGHT STUDIO have, and how do they differ?
REDLIGHT STUDIO has three production systems across 300+ sqm that work independently or together.
- Studio R with Recording Room R: the flagship system for vocals, instruments, live sessions, mixing and mastering.
- Studio B with Recording Room B: a more compact room for vocals, small instruments and writing.
- Studio C with the Vocal Booth: a dedicated control room paired with an independent vocal room, for vocals, voice-over and podcasts, editing and songwriting.
All rooms are linked by analogue lines and Dante networking.
What did Luca Bignardi do at REDLIGHT STUDIO?
Grammy Award winner Luca Bignardi, the Italian mixing engineer and producer, took part in REDLIGHT STUDIO's acoustic design and final calibration, including low-frequency control and the monitoring environment in Studio R. He is the studio's acoustic and sound consultant and is available by arrangement for consulting, mix advice or masterclasses.
Can I book mixing only, or mastering only?
Yes. REDLIGHT STUDIO takes stand-alone multitrack mixing, stand-alone mastering (stereo or stem mastering) and vocal post-production. For mixing, send consolidated stems from the same start point with a reference track and notes; stem mastering is quoted by track count and requirements.
How much do recording and mixing cost at REDLIGHT STUDIO in Shanghai?
REDLIGHT STUDIO's published 2026 rates are below; final pricing follows the project quote.
- Studio R recording: CNY 1,000/hour with an in-house engineer, 2-hour minimum; sessions recorded by Red Liu from CNY 1,200/hour.
- Studio B recording: CNY 700/hour with an in-house engineer, 2-hour minimum.
- Mixing by Red Liu: from CNY 8,000 per song; full package from CNY 9,500 (up to 70 tracks, with editing and single mastering).
- Team mixing: from CNY 5,000 per song (up to 70 tracks, with basic editing).
- Mastering: from CNY 1,500 per song; vocal tuning: from CNY 1,500 per song.
Is there a minimum booking?
Yes. Recording and studio time at REDLIGHT STUDIO is booked from 2 hours, then by the full hour. Regular hours are 10:00–22:00; work outside those hours adds CNY 200 per hour.
Does REDLIGHT STUDIO work remotely with clients outside Shanghai?
Yes, and remote clients are welcome. Send stems, a reference and notes by cloud link; once the quote and schedule are confirmed, versions are delivered and revised online with no need to attend.
Recording sessions can also be attended remotely through real-time online monitoring and video, which REDLIGHT STUDIO does regularly. Communication in English or Chinese.
How long does a mix take, and how many revisions are included?
A first mix from REDLIGHT STUDIO is usually delivered within 3–5 working days, or about a week when the schedule is full; a rush is available when material arrives within 48 hours of the deadline (from CNY 1,500). Five online revisions within the original direction are included, then CNY 500 each; attended revisions are CNY 800 per hour. Re-arranging, re-recording or changing the reference direction are not revisions.
What do you deliver? Do you provide stems?
Mixes from REDLIGHT STUDIO are delivered as a main mix, an instrumental and an instrumental without backing vocals (MMM / MMO / MMA). Processed stems are charged separately, CNY 800 per song for up to 12 groups; radio or extended edits are CNY 600 each.
What is the studio best suited to record?
REDLIGHT STUDIO is best suited to vocals and to small bands and ensembles recorded as live sessions, as well as voice-over, spoken-word and podcasts. For larger ensembles, send the line-up first so we can confirm the room fits.
Does REDLIGHT STUDIO record and mix game music, film and TV soundtracks?
Yes. REDLIGHT STUDIO founder Red Liu has recorded and mixed music for games, film, TV and variety shows, including Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail (HOYO-MiX), Honor of Kings, Tower of Fantasy and Wuthering Waves; film and series songs such as The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity and Fox Spirit Matchmaker; animation songs for Battle Through the Heavens and Jade Dynasty; and music mixing for the variety show 天赐的声音. Game and screen projects are quoted by volume, delivery specs and confidentiality requirements.
What equipment does REDLIGHT STUDIO have?
REDLIGHT STUDIO's main equipment includes:
- Monitoring: Kii Three BXT main monitors, Genelec 8351 near-fields.
- Recording systems: Pro Tools HD / HDX, Avid MTRX Studio, Avid S1 control surface.
- Microphones: Neumann M 149, Upton 251, Heiserman H47, two Neumann U87s, a pair of sE RN17s.
- Preamps: Neve 1073DPD, Phoenix Audio DRS-Q4, Focusrite Red 8.
- Analogue processing: 1176, Manley Vari-Mu, Dangerous 2-BUS+ analogue summing and Dangerous BAX EQ.
- Routing: analogue lines and Dante networking between rooms.
Can I bring my own engineer or producer?
Yes. Clients are welcome to bring their own engineer, producer or team at the same studio rate, and the in-house engineer will help with the room, routing and equipment. Time spent substantially re-arranging a room and restoring it is billed as studio time.
How do I book, and how far ahead?
There are two ways to book REDLIGHT STUDIO: follow the WeChat Official Account “REDLIGHT STUDIO” and use the menu 服务预约 → 预约咨询 or send a message, or email [email protected], which works for clients in China and abroad. Include the project type, preferred dates and requirements. Dates are first come, first served, so earlier is better, but short-notice sessions are accommodated where possible; large or multi-day bookings need 72 hours' notice to reschedule.
How is artist and project confidentiality handled?
REDLIGHT STUDIO keeps all client information, recordings and unreleased work confidential by default and never shows or mentions them without permission; directions are sent only after a booking is confirmed. An NDA can be signed when a client requires one.
